Vodice is a lively tourist centre famous for its various tourist offer and pleasant people.
Take a walk through the city centre and visit archaeological sites and two old churches in the centre. Small church of St. Cross was built in 1402. It was dedicated to St. Cross in 1421 when it was a parish church as well, and there was a graveyard in its surroundings. The church, built in the Gothic style, is a typical example of the rural sacral architecture. The Parish church of St. Cross was built by Ivan Skok, a famous master of the Dalmatian Baroque. In 1725 Skok worked on a chapel of the main altar, which was later inserted in extension of the church (from 1746 to 1749), when the church got its harmonious façade, with a Baroque portal and a magnificent rosette, and side walls with oval Baroque windows.
Worth seeing is Museum of the Navy Tradition and Aquarium (entrance is in the area of the old fishing port at the bar “Molineto”) Open daily 10-22h, ticket 25 HRK.
Visit Memorial centre Faust Vrančić situated at Prvić Luka (approx. 10 minutes by boat from centre of Vodice) to learn more about ingenuity of this great Croatian renaissance scientist. Faust Vrančić was born in Šibenik in 1551, where he gained a basic humanities education. Vrančić's masterwork, Machinae Novae contained 49 large pictures depicting 56 different machines, devices, and technical concepts. One of the illustrations in Machinae Novae is a sketch of a parachute dubbed Homo Volans ("The Flying Man"). Open Mon-Sat 8-16h (Sept-Jun) / Mon 9-16h, Tue-Sun 9-22h (Jul and Aug); ticket 30 HRK.
There are several restaurants in the old town, all of them with quality gastronomic offer, weather you want a fish or meat menu. Try “Burin” and “Rico” specialized for fish dishes, restaurant “Rausa” and restaurant “Adria” at the promenade (Riva) offering both meat and fish dishes. Steak house “Gušte” is located in town centre.
Since it’s a very popular tourist destination, town of Vodice has a lot of cafes and bars with music and fun atmosphere. Most popular lately is cocktail bar and konoba “Makina”, and there are also clubs “Makina Exit” and ”Opijum”, both with open terrace and inner space.
